The KENNAMETAL 1849060 is a carbide profiling and turning insert in the Top Notch series, designed for high-performance metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a parallelogram shape with an NPR52 insert style, a KC5010 manufacturer grade with PVD-applied AlTiN coating, and a negative rake geometry with a 0-degree relief angle. The inscribed circle measures 0.249 inches, thickness is 0.125 inches, and the corner radius is 0.80 mm (0.031 inches). With four cutting edges and screw-type insert holding, this insert delivers consistent profiling and turning performance across a broad range of workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for profiling and turning operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, S, and H. It is applicable across material grades P10 through P20, M10 through M20, K05 through K20, N10 through N20, S10 through S20, and H10. Typical installations include external and contour turning applications on production CNC equipment in both job shop and production environments. The right-hand orientation suits standard setups on most turning centers using compatible Top Notch toolholders.
Designed for use in Top Notch series toolholders accepting NPR52 style inserts. Compatible with workpiece materials coded P, M, K, N, S, and H per ISO classification. ISO insert designation KCGX110308R15. Standards: NPR52 and KCGX110308R15.
Insert replacement and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked out per applicable safety procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder specification without over-torquing the insert pocket. Verify insert orientation for right-hand cutting direction before resuming operation. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage each time the insert is indexed.
