The KENNAMETAL 1843877 is a right-hand SCLC-style indexable turning toolholder designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Built with a 1 inch x 1 inch square steel shank and an overall length of 6 inches, it accepts CC..43. series inserts held in place by a screw-on clamping method. The neutral rake geometry with a 0-degree rake angle gives machinists predictable cutting performance across a range of workpiece materials. A lead angle of 5 degrees positions the insert for controlled chip flow and consistent tool engagement. This toolholder is specified and installed by CNC machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and industrial maintenance technicians.
The 1843877 is suited for external turning applications in production and job-shop environments. Its 1 inch x 1 inch shank fits standard tool blocks and quick-change toolpost systems sized for that shank envelope. The 5-degree lead angle makes it a practical choice for straight turning, shoulder work, and facing passes where a neutral-rake approach is preferred. Coolant-through is not supported on this holder, so cutting fluid must be applied externally. This is a single-use-orientation tool — it is not a multi-use reversible holder.
Designed to accept CC.. 432 series indexable inserts with a 0.5 inch (1/2 inch) inscribed circle. Verify that your insert grade, chipbreaker geometry, and corner radius match the application requirements before ordering inserts separately.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the toolholder from the tool block or turret. Torque the insert-clamping screw only with the appropriate Kennametal torx or hex key to avoid damaging the seating pocket — do not over-tighten. Confirm shank fit and projection length before taking a first cut, and verify that the cutting edge height is set to centerline per machine and operation requirements.
