The KENNAMETAL 1832360 is a VNMG331MP-style solid carbide turning insert coated with TiAlN via a PVD process and manufactured under the KC5010 grade. It features a 35-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a chamfered-and-honed cutting edge for controlled engagement. The insert carries a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 1/64-inch corner radius, making it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations where edge integrity and coating adhesion are critical. Four cutting edges are available per insert, improving cost-per-edge economics on production runs. This insert belongs to the KENLOC series and conforms to ANSI and ISO standards.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. The KC5010 PVD-TiAlN coating delivers strong adhesion and thermal resistance at the cutting zone, supporting consistent performance across primary workpiece material codes P, M, and S. The MP chip breaker geometry manages chip flow effectively at moderate depths of cut up to 0.05 inches (1.25 mm), making this insert a practical choice for CNC turning centers running these material families in both production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting VNMG-style inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and pin-and-clamp holding method. Compatible with toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO VNMG insert seating standards. Primary workpiece material codes P (steel), M (stainless steel), and S (superalloys and titanium) are supported; secondary workpiece material codes N, P, and S apply.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed to a safe position before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces and secure with the clamp and pin as required by the KENLOC toolholder design. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or damage before seating a new edge, as debris under the insert will affect edge height and part tolerance.
