The KENNAMETAL 1819517 is a WNMG431FP-style trigon turning insert in the KC5010 grade, designed for metal cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which improves wear resistance and heat management at the cutting edge. It carries a negative rake angle of 15 degrees and a honed cutting edge style, contributing to edge stability under interrupted and continuous cuts. With a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and a 1/64 inch corner radius, this insert suits finish to semi-finish turning passes. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians install this insert in KENLOC-style toolholders for high-productivity turning applications.
This insert is rated for primary use on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys and titanium, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and S. The FP chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip flow across those material groups. Secondary compatibility extends to material codes N and S. Suitable applications include turning, facing, and boring. The insert delivers up to 0.0492 inch maximum depth of cut, making it appropriate for light to moderate material removal in precision turning environments. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards and carries the industry standard number WNMG431FP.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting WNMG-style inserts with a 0.2031 inch hole diameter. Compatible with turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys and titanium (ISO codes P, M, S). Also applicable to secondary material codes N and S.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamp and pin holding system. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and accurate tool offset.
