The KENNAMETAL 1819515 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. It carries the industry-standard designation WNMG331FP and is manufactured to the KC5010 grade, a PVD-applied TiAlN coating known for high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The insert features an 80-degree trigon (W-shape) geometry, a neutral hand orientation, and an FP chip breaker optimized for finishing operations. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, it is suited for light, consistent finishing cuts where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are the priority. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments are the primary users.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, as well as cast iron and aluminum. It fits into the KENLOC toolholding system and accepts clamp-and-pin holding methods. The FP chip breaker geometry targets finishing chip loads, making it appropriate for final-pass operations where tight tolerances and low surface roughness are required. It is compatible with ANSI insert code WNMG331 and ISO insert code WNMG060404, allowing fitment in any WNMG-style toolholder meeting those standards. The KC5010 grade is rated for high to moderate wear resistance and toughness across steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K) material groups.
Compatible with WNMG-style toolholders conforming to ANSI insert code WNMG331 and ISO insert code WNMG060404. Designed for use in the KENNAMETAL KENLOC toolholding system using clamp and pin holding methods. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring of steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, cast iron, and aluminum workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before clamping. Use the correct clamp and pin hardware specified for WNMG-style KENLOC holders to achieve proper seating and prevent insert movement during the cut.
