The KENNAMETAL 1819500 is a TNMG331FP indexable turning insert in the KENLOC series, manufactured from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating and grade KC5010. The insert features a 60-degree triangle shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch) inscribed circle, and a 1/64 inch (0.0156 inch) corner radius. With 6 cutting edges per insert, a honed cutting edge style, and a negative rake angle of 15 degrees, it is engineered for consistent performance in production turning operations. A licensed machinist or CNC programmer typically selects and installs this insert in a compatible TNMG-style toolholder.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials. The FP chip breaker geometry and TiAlN coating make it well suited for moderate to demanding cutting conditions where heat resistance and edge integrity are priorities. It is held in the toolholder using a clamp and pin method, which is standard for TNMG-style seats. The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inch), making it appropriate for finish to medium turning passes.
Designed for use in TNMG-style KENLOC series toolholders that accept a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, 3/16 inch thick triangle insert with a 0.150 inch hole diameter. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, and S cover steel, stainless steel, and superalloys and titanium respectively. Secondary workpiece material codes N, P, and S are also supported.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and locating pin are clean and free of chips before clamping. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm to avoid insert fracture or premature edge failure.
