The KENNAMETAL 1808532 is a right-hand SRAC-style indexable turning toolholder designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It accepts RC..43. series inserts secured by a screw-on clamping method, delivering consistent insert repeatability under heavy cutting loads. The shank measures 1 inch wide by 1 inch high with an overall length of 6 inches, making it a standard straight-shank holder suited to most production turning setups. The neutral rake angle of 0 degrees suits a broad range of workpiece materials without favoring aggressive chip curl or high positive geometries. The toolholder body is constructed of steel and does not include coolant-through capability.
This toolholder is intended for use in production and job-shop turning environments where RC..43. insert geometry is preferred. The 1-inch square shank fits common OD turning tool blocks and quick-change toolpost systems used in both CNC and manual lathe configurations. It is appropriate for turning steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials in residential or commercial machine shop settings. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators are the primary installers. The screw-on insert retention method provides positive clamping during interrupted and continuous cuts.
Designed to accept RC..43. series indexable inserts with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle. Compatible with standard 1-inch square shank OD turning tool blocks and quick-change toolpost systems used on CNC and manual lathes.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC lathe operators. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or changing the toolholder or insert. Seat the shank fully into the tool block and torque the clamping bolts to the machine or toolpost manufacturer specification. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the insert screw to the insert manufacturer's recommended torque; do not over-tighten, as this can fracture the insert or strip the screw.
