The KENNAMETAL 1799443 is a carbide threading insert designed for cutting Acme-form threads at 5 threads per inch (TPI). It carries the KC5025 manufacturer grade and features a TiAlN finish applied via PVD coating, which improves wear resistance and heat tolerance during interrupted or continuous threading operations. The insert uses a 29-degree included angle and is configured for right-hand cutting. It fits the Top Notch insert series and is suited for both internal and external thread applications. Licensed HVAC and machining trade professionals will recognize this as a precision replacement insert for turning centers and manual lathes where Acme thread profiles are required.
This insert is intended for use in metal-cutting applications that demand accurate Acme thread geometry. The NA4R5 insert style is right-hand oriented and suitable for threading on CNC lathes or manual turning equipment. Insert size 4 and the Top Notch series designation determine toolholder compatibility. Material grades C2 and C6 indicate suitability for general-purpose machining, including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and some steels. The TiAlN PVD coating extends tool life in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement threading insert for Top Notch series toolholders accepting size 4 inserts. Specific toolholder compatibility should be confirmed against KENNAMETAL Top Notch system documentation before installation.
Threading inserts should be installed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any insert. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating a new insert.
