The KENNAMETAL 1794630 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation BGHX15L5PCFRGG, engineered for high-precision milling applications in cast iron and non-ferrous metals. Manufactured in the K110M grade without coating, this insert delivers sharp, bright cutting edges suited for applications where surface finish and edge consistency are critical. The irregular BGHX insert shape features a positive rake angle of 30 degrees and a 90-degree included angle, providing clean shear action and reduced cutting forces. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.4134 inches and a thickness of 0.197 inches, this insert fits the Fix-Perfect cutter series and is held in place by a screw-clamp method. A licensed machinist or toolroom technician installs and indexes this insert as part of a production or maintenance milling operation.
This insert is designed for use in milling cast iron components and non-ferrous metal workpieces in industrial machining environments, including production shops and maintenance facilities. The GG chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation during interrupted and continuous cuts. The right-hand cutting orientation and single-sided configuration are standard for Fix-Perfect series cutter bodies. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the insert can be indexed to extend tool life before replacement. Material grade classifications C2 and C3 correspond to ISO K and N work material groups.

Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine spindle fully de-energized and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw; do not overtighten, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and susceptible to fracture under excessive clamp load. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Dispose of spent inserts in accordance with facility carbide recycling procedures.
