Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 1785477 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying the industry standard designation CCGT2152HP in the KC5010 grade. It features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The insert has an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a 7-degree relief angle with positive rake geometry. With a honed cutting edge and HP chip breaker, it is engineered for finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys. Installed in screw-on style toolholders, this insert is a direct-replacement component serviced by machinists and toolroom technicians.

This insert is suited for finishing passes in turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous alloys (N), and superalloys and titanium (S). The KC5010 grade is characterized by high to moderate wear resistance combined with moderate toughness, making it effective for light, precise cuts where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are priorities. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with corresponding codes CCGT2152 and CCGT060208.

Key Features

  • TiAlN coating via PVD process for high wear resistance on steel and stainless steel
  • 80-degree diamond insert shape with positive rake and positive side clearance
  • HP chip breaker geometry optimized for finishing cuts
  • Honed cutting edge for improved edge stability on light depths of cut
  • Screw-on holding method for secure, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders
  • Two cutting edges per insert; neutral hand orientation

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style screw-on turning insert conforming to ANSI insert code CCGT2152 and ISO insert code CCGT060208, compatible with toolholders accepting CCGT-style inserts with a 0.1102-inch (2.80 mm) hole diameter.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians servicing CNC or manual lathes. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamp screw; do not overtighten. Verify insert seating and chip breaker orientation before resuming cutting operations.
