The KENNAMETAL 1783275 is a WNMG432FW grade KC5010 solid carbide turning insert designed for high-performance metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. It carries a PVD-applied TiAlN coating that improves heat resistance and tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The insert features a negative rake angle of 10 degrees, a honed cutting edge, and a wiper edge for improved surface finish. At 8.69 mm in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, this is a standard WNMG432 geometry insert suited for finish to semi-finish turning. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is built for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. The FW chip breaker geometry controls chip flow across a range of depths and feeds, making it versatile across roughing and finishing passes within its rated maximum depth of cut. The KENLOC series designation indicates compatibility with KENNAMETAL KENLOC-style toolholders that use clamp and pin holding methods. Six cutting edges are available per insert, reducing per-edge tooling cost in volume production settings.
Designed for use with KENNAMETAL KENLOC-series toolholders that accept WNMG432 inserts using clamp and pin holding. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium (S); secondary material groups include N and P codes. Material grades C3 and C4 apply.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and confirm the clamp and pin are secure before starting any cut. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm) without verifying toolholder and workpiece rigidity.
