The KENNAMETAL 1743927 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the LT11NRA60 style specification with a KC5025 grade, it carries a PVD-applied TiAlN coating for thermal resistance and edge durability under demanding cutting conditions. The insert cuts a partial profile 60-degree thread form on the right-hand internal pass, covering a thread pitch range of 48 to 16 TPI (0.50 to 1.50 mm pitch). With an inscribed circle of 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) and a thickness of 0.1260 inch (3.04 mm), this insert seats precisely in compatible LT11 style toolholders used in production threading applications.
This insert is suited for internal threading in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces where a unified or metric partial-profile 60-degree thread form is required. It is typically installed in small-bore threading toolholders on CNC turning equipment in job shops, production machining facilities, and aerospace or industrial component manufacturing environments. The TiAlN PVD coating supports higher cutting speeds and extends tool life in steel and stainless steel applications. Machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers for this type of insert.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement threading insert for use in LT11 style laydown threading toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.1280 inch hole diameter.
Threading inserts of this type are installed and replaced by machinists or CNC tooling technicians following standard lathe lockout and toolholder torque procedures. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and seating screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to avoid insert rocking or seating damage. Handle carbide inserts with care to prevent chipping of cutting edges prior to use.
