The KENNAMETAL 1732926 is a carbide cutoff insert engineered for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the A2 insert style designation and is manufactured to KC5025 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, which delivers thermal resistance and extended edge life on a wide range of workpiece materials including steels and cast irons. The cutting width measures 3.00 mm (0.1181 inches) and the cutting height is 4.68 mm (0.1843 inches). A neutral lead angle (0 degrees) and a 2-degree relief angle promote stable, controlled chip flow during straight parting cuts. The CR chipbreaker geometry supports consistent chip formation at moderate feed rates.
This insert is suited for cut-off and parting applications in production turning environments, including both light-duty and medium-duty operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The clamp-style insert holding method is compatible with A2-series toolholders. It is typically installed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians working on lathes, turning centers, and automatic screw machines. The insert seat size is 3, and the part ships individually (package quantity of 1) with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces per order.
Designed for use with A2-series clamp-style cutoff and parting toolholders that accept insert seat size 3. Consult the toolholder manufacturer specifications to confirm seat size and clamping compatibility before installation.
This insert is installed and replaced by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Always index the machine spindle to a complete stop and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping screws specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-tighten the clamp, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
