The KENNAMETAL 1730499 is an ER16 series collet designed for use in CNC machining centers, milling machines, and precision toolholding systems. This collet accepts a 1/16 inch (0.0625 inch) shank diameter and delivers a total indicator runout (TIR) of 0.0152 mm, providing the tight concentricity tolerances required for precision cutting operations. With an overall length of 27.51 mm and an overall diameter of 16.99 mm, it fits standard ER16 collet chucks without modification. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this collet when high-accuracy work demands minimal runout at the cutting edge.
This collet is suited for light-duty milling, drilling, reaming, and tapping operations where a 1/16 inch tool shank is required. It is appropriate for both production and job-shop environments in applications ranging from small-diameter end mill work to precision reaming in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The ER16 format is a widely adopted standard, making this collet a common replacement and replenishment item across general machining operations.
Designed for use with standard ER16 collet chucks and toolholding systems accepting ER16 series collets with a 1/16 inch clamping diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the collet from the chuck body. Use the appropriate ER16 collet nut and spanner wrench to seat and torque the assembly according to the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Inspect the collet bore and chuck taper for chips or contamination before installation, as debris will directly affect runout performance.
