The KENNAMETAL 1724406 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for external thread cutting applications. Designated style LT16ERA60 with manufacturer grade KC5010, this insert uses a PVD-applied TiAlN coating that provides heat and wear resistance during high-speed threading operations. It covers a partial profile 60-degree thread form across a range of 48 to 16 threads per inch, making it suitable for a broad range of unified and metric-pitch external threading work. The insert measures 0.1430 inches thick with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians using compatible laydown-style threading toolholders.

This insert is suited for external threading on CNC lathes and manual turning centers in both production and job-shop environments.
