The KENNAMETAL 1719254 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ISO designation SEKR1504AFENGP and manufactured in grade KC725M. The insert features a square shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 90-degree included angle, making it suitable for a wide range of face and shoulder milling applications. A three-layer PVD coating stack of TiN, TiCN, and TiN provides wear resistance and thermal stability across demanding cut conditions. The insert measures 0.1827 inches thick with an inscribed circle of 0.6250 inches and a corner radius of 0.0429 inches. It is held in place by a screw-clamp method and is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working with CNC or manual milling equipment.
This insert is designed for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and S. It carries a GP chip breaker geometry with a 30-degree rake angle and a 20-degree relief angle, supporting a maximum depth of cut of 0.4134 inches. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose production milling where consistent edge performance across multiple workpiece materials is required. The KC725M grade is targeted at medium to finishing cuts where PVD coating integrity and edge sharpness are priorities.
Designed for use in SEKR-series milling cutter bodies that accept screw-held square inserts with an inscribed circle in the 0.6000 to 0.7000 inch range and a thickness in the 0.1750 to 0.1850 inch range. Verify cutter body specifications before ordering to confirm seat geometry and screw size match.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping screw to seat the insert without over-torquing the pocket screw. Inspect the cutter body seat and screw threads for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Handle solid carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
