Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 1713359 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBGT220LF geometry, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process and carrying the KC5010 manufacturer grade. It features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0039-inch corner radius, and a positive rake and side clearance configuration. The LF chip breaker is optimized for finishing and light machining passes. Two cutting edges are available per insert. This insert is held in place by a screw-on method and is suited for CNC turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations performed by machinists and tool and die professionals.

The 1713359 is designed for use on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials, with additional capability on cast iron and aluminum-family materials. Its KC5010 grade delivers high wear resistance with moderate toughness, making it well matched to finishing cuts where surface finish and dimensional control are the priority. The insert conforms to both ANSI (VBGT2202) and ISO (VBGT110301) standards, fitting standard VBGT-style screw-on toolholders used on most CNC lathes and turning centers. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches).

Installation Notes
