The KENNAMETAL 1623272 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TCGT21505HP geometry with KC5410 grade designation. It features a PVD-applied TiB2 (titanium diboride) coating engineered for high wear resistance when machining aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. The insert measures 11.00 mm (0.4331 inches) in length with a 1/4-inch (0.2500-inch) inscribed circle and a 0.0079-inch corner radius. A positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a honed cutting edge style combine to promote clean chip evacuation and tight surface finishes on finishing operations. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tooling specialists working with non-ferrous materials will find this insert suited for light, high-speed passes.
This insert is designed for finishing operations on non-ferrous metals, particularly aluminum. Its HP chip breaker promotes controlled chip flow at higher speeds and lighter depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). The screw-on holding method provides positive clamping in compatible TCGT-style toolholders.
