The KENNAMETAL 1623193 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCGT2152HP geometry, grade KC5410, designed for precision finishing operations on non-ferrous metals and aluminum. It carries a PVD-applied TiB2 coating that delivers high wear resistance while maintaining a sharp, positive rake cutting edge. The insert measures 6.45 mm (0.2539 inches) in length with a 1/4 inch inscribed circle and a 1/32 inch corner radius. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, 7-degree relief angle, and 15-degree positive rake angle combine to produce clean, low-force cuts on soft and abrasive non-ferrous workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this insert type.
This insert is suited for finishing passes in turning, facing, and boring applications where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required on aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. The HP chip breaker geometry is optimized for light depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). The screw-on holding method provides secure, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders. It offers two usable cutting edges per insert, improving cost-per-edge value in high-volume finishing environments. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both right-hand and left-hand toolholder configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style screw-on turning insert for use in CCGT-style toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch inscribed circle, 3/32 inch thick, ANSI size 2152 (ISO size 060208) carbide turning inserts.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure when seating the screw-on clamp; do not overtighten. Inspect the toolholder pocket seating surface for chips or burrs before installing a new insert to ensure correct seating and repeatable geometry.
