The KENNAMETAL 1605279 is a DNMG432FN cermet turning insert in the KENLOC series, grade KT315. It carries a multilayer PVD coating of TiN, TiCN, and TiN applied in sequence, delivering high wear-resistance across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. The 55-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape provides a pointed geometry suited to finishing operations. With 4 cutting edges, a negative rake angle of 10 degrees, and a honed cutting edge style, this insert is engineered for consistent surface finish and extended tool life in high-volume turning applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible KENLOC-style toolholders.
This insert is intended for finishing-class turning operations including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P-grade), stainless steel (M-grade), and cast iron (K-grade), where high wear-resistance is the dominant performance requirement. The DNMG432FN designation conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, making it cross-referenceable under ANSI code DNMG432 and ISO code DNMG150408. It is suited to CNC lathes and turning centers in both production and job-shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct drop-in for KENLOC-series DNMG432 toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO DNMG150408 pocket specifications. Suitable for multi-use turning applications across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials per P, M, and K material grade designations.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate clamp or pin retention hardware specified for the DNMG432 pocket to achieve correct seating and clamping force. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut listed in the specifications, as overloading a finishing-grade insert can cause edge chipping or premature failure.
