The KENNAMETAL 1602250 is a WNMG332FF solid carbide turning insert coated with TiAlN via a PVD process and graded KC5010. It belongs to the KENLOC series and is designed for finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The insert features an 80-degree trigon shape with a neutral hand orientation, a negative rake angle of 20 degrees, and a honed cutting edge style. With six usable cutting edges and a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm), it delivers high wear resistance across a range of demanding workpiece materials. Licensed HVAC techs, machinists, and tooling professionals install and index this insert in KENLOC-compatible toolholders.
This insert is suited for CNC turning, facing, and boring applications in production and job-shop environments. The FF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing passes, producing controlled chip formation at light depths of cut. The KC5010 grade offers high wear resistance with moderate toughness, making it effective on steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K) workpiece materials, as well as aluminum and non-ferrous materials (N) and superalloys and titanium (S). It conforms to both ANSI and ISO dimensional standards, with ANSI code WNMG332 and ISO code WNMG060408.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for KENLOC series toolholders accepting WNMG332 or ISO WNMG060408 inserts. Multi-use application includes turning, facing, and boring operations.
Indexing and replacement of carbide turning inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum recommended depth of cut for the KC5010 grade and FF chip breaker geometry.
