The KENNAMETAL 1599069 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying the TNMG332MP KC5010 designation, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a 60-degree triangle shape with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a 3/16-inch thickness. The KC5010 grade uses a PVD-applied TiAlN coating that delivers high wear resistance across a broad range of cutting conditions. Six usable cutting edges per insert, combined with the MP chip breaker geometry, make this a practical choice for high-volume production turning. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians are the primary installers of this tooling.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It performs best in moderate-to-high wear-resistance applications where controlled chip formation matters. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard TNMG-style toolholders used in both OD turning and light boring applications. The MP chip breaker geometry targets finishing to light roughing cuts, with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). The KENLOC series designation indicates compatibility with KENNAMETAL KENLOC-style clamping systems.
Designed for use in TNMG-style toolholders within the KENNAMETAL KENLOC series clamping system. Compatible with insert holding methods that use clamp and pin retention. Intended for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate KENLOC-style torx or hex key to release the clamp or pin before seating the new cutting edge. Inspect the toolholder pocket for debris or wear before seating the insert to ensure proper support and prevent premature edge failure.
