The KENNAMETAL 1560829 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TNMS432 (ISO: TNMS220408) geometry, finished with a PVD-applied TiB2 coating under the manufacturer grade KC5410. It belongs to the KENLOC series and is engineered for turning, facing, and boring operations on non-ferrous metals and aluminum. The triangular insert shape provides 6 usable cutting edges, and the neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable across a range of toolholder configurations. The TiB2 PVD coating delivers high wear resistance while maintaining toughness through medium machining conditions. A honed cutting edge style and negative rake geometry contribute to controlled chip formation and extended tool life in aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece applications.
This insert is suited for medium machining of non-ferrous metals in both turning and boring applications on CNC lathes and machining centers. The KENLOC clamping system, combined with a clamp and pin holding method, provides secure seating under interrupted and continuous cuts. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm), it is best applied in finishing to medium stock-removal passes. The KC5410 grade is rated for aluminum and non-ferrous materials (ISO application code N), spanning high wear-resistance to moderate wear-resistance with toughness, making it a reliable choice for production environments running aluminum alloys, copper, and similar materials.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the KENLOC clamp screw to avoid damaging the insert seat or clamp. Inspect the pocket and locating pin for wear or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination in the pocket affects runout and surface finish.
