The KENNAMETAL 1560803 is a solid carbide turning insert conforming to ANSI insert code DNMS432 and ISO code DNMS150408. It carries the KC5410 grade designation and features a physical vapor deposition (PVD)-applied TiB2 coating engineered for high to moderate wear resistance when cutting aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. The insert has a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a corner radius of 0.0313 inches (1/32 inch), and an insert length of 15.50 mm (0.6102 inches). With four usable cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style, it is part of the KENLOC series and targets medium machining chip breaker conditions. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in production turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations.
This insert is suited for machining non-ferrous metals — aluminum alloys, copper, brass, and similar materials — in both light-production and medium-machining scenarios. The TiB2 PVD coating resists built-up edge on soft, gummy workpiece materials, which is a common challenge in aluminum turning. The KENLOC series design uses a clamp-and-pin holding method, which is typical in negative-rake insert toolholders. The insert carries both ANSI and ISO standards compliance, making it interchangeable across tooling systems that accept the DNMS432 form factor. Material grades C3 and C4 apply.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting DNMS432 (ISO DNMS150408) negative-rake inserts with a clamp-and-pin holding method. Suitable for operations conforming to ANSI and ISO DNMS insert standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Before replacing inserts, power down the machine and follow lockout/tagout procedures per applicable shop safety standards. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to avoid seating errors that can cause premature edge failure.
