The KENNAMETAL 1541574 is a 6-40 UNF straight-flute hand tap designed for cutting right-hand internal threads in through-hole and blind-hole applications. It features a bottoming chamfer, which allows threading to within a few threads of the bottom of a blind hole. Manufactured from bright, uncoated high-speed steel, this tap measures 2 inches in overall length with an 0.688-inch thread length and a 0.141-inch shank diameter. It is a 3-flute design conforming to Class of Fit 2B and 3B with a Thread Limit of H2. Machinists and maintenance technicians rely on this tap for precision threading in close-tolerance work.
This tap is suited for hand tapping operations in cast iron and non-ferrous metals. The bottoming chamfer makes it the right choice when full threads are needed at the base of a blind hole, typically used after a taper or plug tap has started the thread. It fits standard hand tap wrench sizes appropriate for its shank diameter. This tap belongs to Kennametal Series 5305 and 5303.
Designed for 6-40 UNF internal thread applications in cast iron and non-ferrous metal workpieces. Part of Kennametal Series 5305 and 5303.
This tap is intended for use by machinists or maintenance technicians performing hand tapping with a standard tap wrench. Secure the workpiece firmly before tapping and apply appropriate cutting fluid for the material being threaded. Use a taper or plug tap to start the thread before using this bottoming tap in a blind hole. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use and replace if damaged to avoid thread damage or tap breakage.
