The KENNAMETAL 1528364 is a 38.1mm (1.5 inches nominal) diameter indexable insert drill engineered for general-purpose drilling in metal cutting applications. Built on the DFT series platform, it accepts two DFT06T3 indexable inserts and delivers a maximum drill depth of 3.75 inches at a 2.5xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The tool is constructed from steel and features a 1.25-inch Weldon Flat and Flange straight shank for rigid, slip-resistant mounting in compatible drill chucks and toolholders. Coolant-through capability is standard, with axial concentric entry at the shank end and side coolant hole ports to support chip evacuation and tool life in production environments. This drill is intended for installation and use by machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
The 1528364 is suited for drilling operations on machining centers, CNC lathes with live tooling, and manual mills where a robust, replaceable-insert drill is required. Its right-hand cutting direction and general-purpose performance rating make it appropriate for a wide range of workpiece materials in both job-shop and production settings. The 2.5xD ratio is well matched to through-hole and blind-hole applications where moderate depth is needed without sacrificing rigidity. Overall tool length is 8.75 inches, providing reach for standard fixture setups.
Compatible with DFT-style indexable inserts; insert compatibility code DFT06T3. Insert lock screw specification M3.5-0.6x8.3 T15. Designed for use in toolholders and spindles accepting a 1.25-inch straight shank with Weldon Flat and Flange interface.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the drill body or changing inserts. Secure the shank firmly in the toolholder to the flat using appropriate set screws to prevent rotation under cutting loads. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and system pressure is appropriate for the application before initiating a cut.
