The KENNAMETAL 1528350 is a DFT-series indexable insert drill designed for general-purpose drilling in metal and hard materials. The body accepts two DFT-style inserts with a compatible insert size code of 06T3, enabling fast insert changes without removing the tool from the holder. The drill delivers a maximum depth of 3.45 inches at a 2.5xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The 1.25-inch Weldon Flat and Flange shank provides secure retention in compatible chucks and tool holders. Coolant-through capability with axial concentric entry supports chip evacuation and tool life in production environments. The tool body is constructed from steel and has an overall length of 8.375 inches.
The 1528350 is suited for drilling operations on machining centers and drill presses where indexable-insert tooling replaces solid-carbide or brazed drills. With a right-hand cutting direction and a maximum drill diameter of 1.5 inches, it fits hole-making applications in job shop and production machining environments. The 2.5xD ratio is appropriate for through-holes and blind holes in a moderate depth range of 3.0 to 4.0 inches. Machinists and CNC operators working in steel, cast iron, and similar materials are the primary users of this tooling.
Compatible with DFT-style indexable drill inserts using size code DFT06T3. The insert lock screw specification is M3.5-0.6x8.3 T15. Body side coolant hole thread size is 1/8-27 inch and shank end coolant hole thread size is 1/4-18 inch. No additional model-specific or machine-specific compatibility data was provided in the product information.
Installation and insert changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Verify that the tool holder and chuck are rated for the 1.25-inch shank diameter before mounting. Coolant line connections at the body side and shank end ports should be checked for proper thread engagement before running the tool at operating pressure. Follow the insert manufacturer torque guidance for the M3.5 insert lock screw using a T15 Torx driver.
