The KENNAMETAL 1522126 is a DFT-series indexable insert drill designed for general-purpose drilling operations in metalworking and machining applications. The drill accepts two DFT05T3 indexable inserts and features a 1.25-inch (31.75 mm) maximum drill diameter with a maximum drill depth of 4.5 inches (114.3 mm), yielding a 4xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The body is steel construction with a 1.25-inch Weldon Flat and Flange shank for positive rotational drive and secure tool holding. Coolant-through capability is supported via axial concentric entry, with a 1/4-18 inch threaded coolant port at the shank end. Overall tool length is 9.375 inches.
This drill is suited for production drilling in CNC machining centers and manual mills where repeatable hole quality and insert indexability are priorities. The right-hand cutting direction and straight Weldon shank make it compatible with standard side-lock and flange-type tool holders common in production shops. General-purpose performance rating makes it appropriate across a broad range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC setup operators are the typical end users.
Compatible with DFT drill style tooling and DFT05T3 insert size code inserts. Insert compatibility designation is DFT05T3. Designed for use with tool holders accepting a 1.25-inch Weldon Flat and Flange straight shank.
Installation and insert changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state per applicable safety procedures. Use a calibrated T9 Torx driver when seating or replacing the M3-0.5 insert lock screw - do not over-torque. Verify coolant line connection at the 1/4-18 threaded shank-end port before initiating a coolant-through cycle. Confirm tool holder compatibility with the Weldon Flat and Flange shank profile before mounting.
