The KENNAMETAL 1519282 is a replaceable-tip drill body in the KSEM series, designed for precision hole-making in metalworking and machining applications. It accepts KSEM1031 inserts at an insert seat size 6, delivering a drill diameter range of 26.2 to 26.7 mm (approximately 1.031 to 1.051 inches) with a maximum drill depth of 196 mm (7.72 inches), representing a 7xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Through-coolant capability is built in via a 4.00 mm (0.157 inch) coolant hole, keeping cutting edges cool and evacuating chips efficiently during deep-hole drilling operations. Machining centers and CNC lathes with coolant-through spindles are the typical operating environment. Professional machinists and CNC programmers in production and job-shop settings are the primary users of this tooling.
This drill body is suited for medium-to-large diameter deep-hole drilling in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials common in production machining. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 31.75 mm in diameter and 82.55 mm in length, making it compatible with standard hydraulic, shrink-fit, or collet-style toolholders sized for that shank diameter. The overall length of 317.5 mm (12.5 inches) and flute length of 230.93 mm (9.09 inches) accommodate the 196 mm maximum depth of cut while maintaining adequate shank engagement in the holder. This body is intended for use in horizontal and vertical machining centers where rigidity and coolant supply are available.
Designed for use with KSEM1031 replaceable-tip inserts at insert seat size 6 within the KENNAMETAL KSEM series system. Compatible with toolholders accepting a 31.75 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Ensure the shank seating surface and toolholder bore are clean and free of chips or debris before clamping to maintain runout specifications. Confirm through-coolant supply is active and at adequate pressure before initiating the drilling cycle, as coolant interruption during deep-hole drilling can cause rapid insert wear or breakage. Follow the insert manufacturer torque recommendations when seating the KSEM1031 tip, using the correct KENNAMETAL torque wrench for that insert seat size.
