The KENNAMETAL 1519227 is a replaceable-tip drill body designed for precision hole-making in metal cutting applications. It accepts KSEM0625 series inserts at insert seat size 1, allowing the cutting tip to be swapped without replacing the entire tool body. The drill covers a diameter range of 15.88 to 16.38 mm (0.6252 to 0.6449 inches) with a maximum drill depth of 112 mm (4.41 inches), delivering a 7xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Through-coolant delivery via a 3.50 mm coolant hole supports chip evacuation and thermal management during deep-hole drilling. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install this tool in machining centers and CNC lathes.
This drill body is suited for production drilling operations requiring consistent hole geometry at moderate-to-deep depths. The 19.05 mm straight-cylindrical shank interfaces directly with standard ER or hydraulic toolholders commonly used in machining centers. The 7xD depth ratio makes it appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole applications in steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous workpiece materials. The replaceable-tip design reduces tooling cost per hole by eliminating full-body replacement when the cutting edge wears. This tool belongs to the KSEM series platform, which standardizes insert compatibility across multiple drill body sizes.
Designed for use with KSEM0625 replaceable-tip inserts at insert seat size 1. Part of the KSEM series drill body platform.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is de-energized before changing inserts or mounting the drill body. Seat the drill body securely in a toolholder appropriate for a 19.05 mm straight-cylindrical shank, torquing the clamping mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Verify through-coolant passages are clear and coolant pressure is set according to the machining center's and insert manufacturer's guidelines before initiating a cut.
