The KENNAMETAL 1505127 is a replaceable-tip drill body engineered for precision hole-making in metalworking applications. Designed around the KSEM platform, this drill body accepts KSEM1125 insert tips at insert seat size 7, allowing worn or damaged cutting tips to be swapped without replacing the entire tool body. The drill covers a diameter range of 28.58 to 29.08 mm (1.1252 to 1.1449 inches) and delivers a maximum drill depth of 90 mm (3.54 inches) at a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Through-coolant capability keeps the cutting zone clear and extends insert life at production feed rates. The 31.75 mm Weldon Flat shank provides positive rotational drive in compatible toolholders. Overall length is 228.6 mm (9 inches). Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments are the primary installers.
This drill body is suited for use in CNC machining centers and turning centers equipped with driven tooling where consistent, repeatable bore diameters in the 28.58 to 29.08 mm range are required. The 3xD depth ratio makes it appropriate for general through-hole and blind-hole work in steel, cast iron, and similar machinable metals. The through-coolant design supports high-pressure coolant delivery systems commonly found in production machining environments. The Weldon Flat shank interfaces with standard Weldon-style toolholders, a widely used retention system in horizontal and vertical machining centers.
Designed for use with KSEM1125 series replaceable drill tip inserts at insert seat size 7 within the KENNAMETAL KSEM drill system. Requires a Weldon Flat toolholder sized for a 31.75 mm shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per shop safety procedures. Torque the Weldon Flat set screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification using the correct hex key. Before engaging through-coolant, verify that coolant line connections at the shank end and body side ports are properly sealed to prevent leakage. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or contamination before seating a new KSEM1125 tip.
