The KENNAMETAL 1328584 is a steel indexable boring bar designed for internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and manual boring setups. It uses a screw-clamping insert holding method for secure, repeatable insert positioning and accepts CC-style inserts with a 1/4 inch inscribed circle and 3/32 inch thickness. The toolholder style is A-SCLC with a -5 degree lead angle and a neutral rake angle of 0 degrees. The shank diameter is 1/2 inch and the overall length is 8 inches. A coolant-through port threaded at 1/16-27 NPT allows direct coolant delivery to the cutting zone, supporting tool life in difficult materials and deep bore applications. This bar is intended for right-hand cutting and is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
This boring bar is suited for finish and semi-finish internal boring in residential machine shops, production facilities, and job shops. The 0.600 inch (15.24 mm) minimum bore diameter makes it appropriate for relatively small-diameter internal features. The 8 inch overall length provides reach for moderate-depth bores. Applications include turning centers, turret lathes, and manual boring mills where a 1/2 inch shank toolholder is required. The coolant-through design is particularly useful in deep bore applications where flood coolant does not reach the cutting edge effectively.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Secure the shank firmly in the toolholder block or turret station before engaging the spindle, and verify insert seating and clamping screw torque per the insert manufacturer guidelines before taking a cut. Ensure the coolant-through port connection is leak-free before enabling coolant flow. Do not exceed the minimum bore diameter specification, as doing so risks tool deflection and insert breakage.
