The KENNAMETAL 1310955 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG432 geometry, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process and designated grade KC5010. It seats in KENLOC-style toolholders and is used for turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32 inch corner radius. The TiAlN PVD coating delivers high wear resistance across a range of cutting conditions. Four cutting edges are available per insert, and the chamfered and honed cutting edge style supports reliable performance in medium machining chip-breaker applications.
This insert is intended for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. The KC5010 grade is characterized by high to moderate wear resistance combined with moderate toughness, making it well-suited for finishing to semi-finishing passes. The CNMG432 geometry is a common standard size used in production turning environments. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). Installation is straightforward in any KENLOC-compatible toolholder using clamp and pin holding methods.
Designed for use with KENLOC-series toolholders accepting CNMG432 (ISO CNMG120408) inserts with clamp and pin holding. Confirmed for use on steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous (N), and superalloys and titanium (S) workpiece materials. Meets ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before engaging the clamp and pin to ensure correct seating and edge engagement. Inspect the pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before each insert change. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamp screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert body.
