The KENNAMETAL 1310943 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPGT style, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Carrying the KC5010 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers high wear resistance across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials. The triangular (T) insert shape provides three cutting edges per insert, extending tool life between changeovers. With a 0.0156-inch corner radius and a positive rake angle, the 1310943 is optimized for finishing and light machining passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are the priority. The screw-on holding method ensures repeatable seating in compatible toolholders.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It fits residential machine shops and industrial production cells alike. The LF chip breaker geometry is configured for finishing and light machining, making it a practical choice when minimizing tool pressure on thin-walled or precision-tolerance workpieces. The neutral hand orientation means it can be applied in a variety of holder configurations without requiring a handed setup. Primary workpiece material codes are P, M, K, N, and S per ISO classification.
Designed for use in screw-on TPGT-style toolholders compatible with ANSI size code 2151 and ISO size code 110204. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, superalloys, and titanium. Verify holder pocket geometry and screw size before installation.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and all axes at rest. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamping screw; uneven seating can cause premature edge failure or dimensional error. Inspect the pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before each insert change. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle under asymmetric clamping loads.
