The KENNAMETAL 1310890 is a DCMT3251LF solid carbide turning insert with a KC5010 manufacturer grade and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. Designed for external and internal turning operations, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, and a honed cutting edge for clean, consistent cuts. The screw-on holding method provides secure seating in compatible toolholders. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert is suited for light to moderate material removal in demanding cutting environments. It carries two cutting edges per insert and is rated for use across steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for use in CNC turning centers, manual lathes, and boring setups where wear resistance and edge consistency are critical. The LF chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation during turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician using the screw-on clamping method standard to DCMT-style toolholders. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is de-energized before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw to proper engagement without stripping the insert pocket. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or wear before installing a new insert to maintain dimensional accuracy.
