The KENNAMETAL 1310885 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation DCMT2151LF and ISO designation DCMT070204, finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating under manufacturer grade KC5010. The insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a positive rake and side clearance geometry. The cutting edge is honed for a controlled finish. With a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0156-inch corner radius, and an insert length of 7.75 mm (0.6104 inches), this insert is engineered for finishing and light machining operations. It is held by a screw-on method and provides two cutting edges per insert.
This insert is suited for finish turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring on a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and aluminum. The KC5010 grade delivers high to moderate wear resistance combined with toughness across P, M, K, N, and S workpiece material codes. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in both manual and CNC turning centers. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light material removal rates where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are the priority.
Designed for use in screw-on style DCMT-format turning toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with multi-use turning applications including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. Suitable for primary workpiece materials coded P, M, K, N, and S per ISO classification. Material grades C3 and C4 apply.
Installation is performed by machinists using appropriate torx or hex keys for the insert screw; follow the toolholder manufacturer's specified insert screw torque procedure. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for debris or damage before seating the new insert. This insert is a precision indexable cutting tool and should not be forced into the pocket or struck during installation.
