The KENNAMETAL 1310883 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VNGP331K geometry, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process under the KC5010 manufacturer grade. It carries a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a honed cutting edge style. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches, insert length is 16.61 mm (approximately 0.654 inches), and the corner radius is 1/64 inches. With four usable cutting edges and a negative rake and side clearance configuration, it is engineered for high wear-resistance applications in steel, stainless steel, and superalloy turning. Licensed KENNAMETAL machinists and CNC toolroom professionals are the primary installers.
This insert belongs to the KENLOC series and is suited for medium machining chip breaker operations. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum (N), and superalloys and titanium (S), it handles turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). It conforms to ANSI insert code VNGP331 and ISO insert code VNGP160404, making it interchangeable across ANSI- and ISO-compliant toolholders in both production and job-shop environments.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is stopped and all axis motion is disabled before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and confirm the clamp and pin are engaged and torqued per the toolholder manufacturer specification before resuming cuts. Do not run a new insert at full depth of cut immediately; verify tool geometry and runout first.
