The KENNAMETAL 1310882 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCGT3252HP KC5010 grade, designed for precision finish turning on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, and a positive rake geometry with a honed cutting edge for clean, repeatable cuts. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, insert length is 0.9156 inches (11.63 mm), and the corner radius is 0.03125 inches (1/32 inch). With 2 cutting edges and a screw-on holding method, this insert is suited for high-wear-resistance finishing applications across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces.
The 1310882 is primarily used in finishing operations including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. The HP chip breaker geometry is optimized for light depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). The KC5010 grade targets steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials, making it a versatile insert for job shops and production turning environments. It conforms to ANSI insert code DCGT3252 and ISO insert code DCGT11T308. Licensed machinists and CNC turning technicians are the typical installers.
Designed for use in screw-on style DCGT toolholders conforming to ANSI size code 3252 and ISO size code 11T308. Suitable for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
Installation is performed by CNC machinists or turning tool specialists. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to fasten the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer's recommended procedure — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for debris or damage before each insert change to maintain accurate tool nose positioning.
