The KENNAMETAL 1310842 is a solid carbide turning insert in CPGT2151LF geometry, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process and graded KC5010. It is designed for external and internal turning operations where high wear resistance is the priority. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry, while the positive rake angle of 5 degrees and honed cutting edge style support clean, controlled material removal. At 6.45 mm in length with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert is sized for light finishing and light machining passes. Licensed HVAC and machining professionals mount it in screw-on toolholders for precise, repeatable fixturing.
This insert is suited for finishing and light machining applications on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for low feed rates and fine surface finishes. It supports multi-use operations including turning, facing, and boring. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable across a range of toolholder configurations. It carries both ANSI and ISO standards compliance, with ANSI insert code CPGT2151 and ISO insert code CPGT060204, making it straightforward to cross-reference in standard toolholder catalogs.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians using the appropriate screw-on torx or hex key for the toolholder. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts per standard lockout/tagout procedures. Do not exceed the recommended maximum depth of cut for this insert geometry, as overloading the cutting edge can cause premature failure or edge fracture.
