The KENNAMETAL 1310793 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPGT21505HP KC5010 grade, designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a triangular 60-degree geometry with a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a positive side clearance, reducing cutting forces during light-to-moderate depth cuts. TiAlN coating applied via PVD process provides high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. With an inscribed circle of 0.25 inches, an insert length of 0.4331 inches, and a corner radius of 0.0079 inches, this insert is dimensioned for fine-finish turning passes requiring tight tolerances. Screw-on holding method provides secure, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders.
This insert is suited for finishing operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and aluminum applications. Typical use cases include external turning, facing, and boring passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are the primary objectives. The HP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts, managing chip flow at lower depths of cut up to 0.0492 inches. It carries a neutral hand orientation, making it adaptable across a range of screw-on toolholder configurations used in both production and job-shop turning environments.
Designed for use in screw-on style TPGT toolholders compatible with ANSI insert code TPGT21505 and ISO insert code TPGT110202. Suitable for multi-use turning, facing, and boring applications per manufacturer specification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque driver for the screw-on clamping screw to avoid cracking the carbide body — do not overtighten by hand or with standard screwdrivers not rated for insert screws. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper edge height and orientation.
