The KENNAMETAL 1310746 is a solid carbide turning insert designated CCGT4305HP in the KC5010 grade, designed for high-precision finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The insert carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a positive side clearance, promoting clean chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces during light finishing passes. The 0.0079-inch corner radius and honed cutting edge style support tight tolerances and fine surface finishes. It mounts via screw-on holding method and is compatible with standard toolholders in the CCGT series.
This insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing applications including turning, facing, and boring. The CCGT4305HP geometry with the HP chip breaker is optimized for light depths of cut, making it a practical choice for close-tolerance external and internal turning on CNC lathes and machining centers. It is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with ISO P, M, K, N, and S workpiece material groups. The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches), placing it firmly in the finishing category rather than roughing or heavy interrupted cuts.
Designed as an OEM-style screw-on replacement insert for CCGT-style toolholders. Compatible workpiece material groups include Steel (P), Stainless Steel (M), Cast Iron (K), Non-Ferrous (N), and Superalloys and Titanium (S) per ISO classification. ANSI insert code CCGT4305; ISO insert code CCGT120402.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard insert indexing procedures. Power down or lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque driver for the screw-on clamp to avoid over-torquing the mounting screw or damaging the insert seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or wear before seating the new insert.
