The KENNAMETAL 1310739 is a solid carbide turning insert with a TiAlN PVD coating, designed for precision finishing and light machining operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Identified by ANSI code CCGT3251LF and ISO code CCGT09T304, this insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, and a 7-degree relief angle with positive side clearance. The LF chip breaker geometry targets finishing cuts with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). The screw-on holding method provides secure seating in compatible toolholders. Two cutting edges per insert are available. Intended for installation by machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
This insert is suited for finishing and light machining applications on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and aluminum workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and S. Multi-use applications include turning, facing, and boring operations. The KC5010 grade delivers high to moderate wear resistance and toughness across these material groups, making it a reliable choice for high-surface-finish requirements in precision production environments where consistent dimensional accuracy is critical.
Designed for use in screw-on style toolholders accepting CCGT3251 or CCGT09T304 inserts per ANSI and ISO standards. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert specifications for drop-in replacement in compatible turning, facing, and boring applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-recommended screw to secure the insert in the toolholder pocket, avoiding overtightening that could crack the carbide body. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for debris or wear before seating the new insert. Verify tool offset and depth-of-cut parameters before resuming cutting operations.
