The KENNAMETAL 1310719 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation DPGT3251HP and ISO designation DPGT11T304, coated with TiAlN via PVD process under manufacturer grade KC5010. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. The insert carries a neutral hand orientation, positive rake and side clearance geometry, and a honed cutting edge style. It is designed for finishing operations with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). Two cutting edges are available per insert. Screw-on mounting secures it in compatible toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this type of insert.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. Its KC5010 grade targets steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), superalloys, and titanium (S, N) workpiece materials, delivering high to moderate wear resistance with adequate toughness across those material groups. It performs best in finishing passes where dimensional accuracy and surface finish quality are priorities. The HP chip breaker geometry controls chip flow in those low-depth-of-cut conditions.
Designed for use in screw-on style toolholders accepting DPGT3251 / DPGT11T304 inserts. Confirm toolholder pocket geometry and insert seating clearance before installation. No specific compatible toolholder models were identified in the available product data.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver or insert wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the screw-on insert — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamping force. Inspect the pocket seat and clamp screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
