The KENNAMETAL 1310718 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal in finishing and light machining operations. It carries the ANSI designation CCGT21505LF and ISO designation CCGT060202, and is manufactured in grade KC5010 with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, a 7-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge style. The inscribed circle measures 0.25 inches, insert length is 0.2539 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0079 inches. It mounts via screw-on holding method and delivers two usable cutting edges per insert.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron workpieces. The LF chip breaker geometry targets finishing and light machining passes where tight surface finish tolerances are required. The KC5010 grade is characterized by high to moderate wear resistance combined with moderate toughness, making it effective across ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. It is a neutral-hand insert, compatible with screw-on style toolholders designed for CCGT geometry inserts.
Designed for use in screw-on style toolholders accepting CCGT geometry inserts per ANSI and ISO standards, suitable for external turning, facing, and boring applications across ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully de-energized and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque range — consult the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert, as contamination can affect repeatability and edge life. Follow all applicable shop safety procedures when handling carbide inserts, as edges are sharp and the material is brittle.
