The KENNAMETAL 1310707 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal in CNC turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. It carries the DPGT3250LF industry designation and runs in the KC5010 manufacturer grade, which is a PVD-applied TiAlN coating engineered for high wear resistance across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. The insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a positive side clearance, reducing cutting forces and heat generation at the edge. The LF chip breaker geometry targets finishing and light machining passes. This insert is held in the toolholder by a screw-on method and is installed by machinists and CNC setup technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for finishing and light machining cuts on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in both horizontal and vertical CNC turning centers. It is also applicable to cast iron and aluminum workpiece materials where high wear resistance is the priority. The screw-on holding method is compatible with standard DPGT-style toolholders. Multi-use capability covers turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring in a single insert geometry, reducing the number of insert grades needed at the machine. The insert ships individually and must be ordered in multiples of 5.
Designed for use in DPGT-style screw-on turning toolholders. Conforms to ANSI insert code DPGT32502 and ISO insert code DPGT11T3005, allowing cross-reference to any toolholder specified for either standard.
This insert is installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamping screw as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under improper clamp force. Inspect the toolholder seat and clamp pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
