The KENNAMETAL 1245555 is a double-end neutral indexable cutoff blade designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to A2 Cut-Off Series specifications, this blade measures 110mm in overall length, 26mm in height, and 1.8mm in width. It uses a self-grip insert holding method with an insert seat size of 1 and accepts inserts with a 1.60mm minimum insert width. The neutral cutting direction makes it suitable for standard right-hand spindle setups. Machinists and tool-crib professionals working in production turning environments are the primary users of this blade style.
This blade is suited for parting off bar stock and workpieces in precision turning applications. The double-end configuration allows the blade to be flipped and reused when one end reaches end of life, extending blade service life and reducing tooling cost per part. Maximum workpiece diameter is 1.339 inches (34mm equivalent), and maximum depth of cut is 0.669 inches (17.00mm). Typical install environments include high-production CNC turning cells handling steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials where consistent, repeatable cutoff geometry is required.
Designed for use with A2 016 series inserts (insert seat size 1, 1.60mm insert width) within the Kennametal A2 Cut-Off tooling system. Confirm insert style and seat size compatibility before ordering inserts separately.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a powered-down, locked-out state per applicable LOTO procedures. Ensure the blade is properly seated and clamped in the toolholder before indexing the insert or running the spindle. Do not exceed the published maximum workpiece diameter or depth-of-cut ratings for this blade. Inspect the self-grip insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
