The KENNAMETAL 1232519 is an HTS DFT Series pilot drill head designed for deep-hole and large-diameter drilling operations in metalworking environments. This head accepts a B510S10000 fixed pilot drill with a 10mm pilot drill diameter and accommodates four non-pilot inserts held in place via cartridge-style insert retention. With a maximum drill diameter of 73mm (2.874 inches) and a head length of 70mm (2.756 inches), it is built for high-material-removal applications where precision and rigidity are critical. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and tool life in demanding cuts. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary installers.
This pilot drill head is suited for large-diameter hole-making operations on CNC machining centers, lathes, and dedicated boring or drilling machines. The HTS DFT Series is typically applied in industrial production settings involving steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous workpieces where controlled, staged drilling is required. The head connects via a size-22 head connection interface and is used in setups where an accurately piloted entry point is needed before the outer inserts engage full diameter. It is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finish boring stages depending on insert selection.
Designed for use within the KENNAMETAL HTS DFT Series drilling system with a size-22 head connection. Compatible toolholders and extensions must match the size-22 interface. Accepts B510S10000 pilot drill and four non-pilot cartridge inserts as specified for this head configuration.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with large-diameter modular drilling systems. Ensure the machine spindle and coolant supply are fully shut down and locked out before mounting or adjusting the drill head. Use the included adjusting screw and clamping screw with appropriate torque tools per the toolholder system documentation. Confirm coolant-through passages are clear and unobstructed before returning the assembly to service.
