The KENNAMETAL 1201051 is a solid carbide straight-flute drill bit designed for precision hole-making in cast iron and non-ferrous metals. Built to Series K411 specifications and conforming to DIN 6537L, it features a 130-degree split point that reduces walking and minimizes entry burr. The two-flute, right-hand cutting configuration produces clean, accurate bores with a diameter tolerance of +0.0000 to +0.0005 inches. Coolant-through capability via a round coolant hole keeps cutting temperatures controlled during deep or high-feed operations. At 0.5625 inches in diameter, this bit suits demanding production and maintenance drilling where carbide rigidity outperforms high-speed steel.
The 1201051 is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and production boring setups handling cast iron and non-ferrous metal workpieces. Its web-thinned geometry reduces thrust load, making it well-suited for both through-hole and blind-hole applications in foundry components, pump housings, and similar industrial parts. The maximum drilling depth of 2.36 inches and a flute length of 3.01 inches support a range of typical production hole depths without regrinding.
Designed for machining cast iron and non-ferrous metals. Suitable for use in CNC and manual drilling equipment that accepts a straight-shank carbide drill bit of 0.5625 inches diameter. Verify spindle RPM, feed rate, and coolant delivery are appropriate for solid carbide tooling before use.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with solid carbide cutting tools. Power down and lock out the machine before loading or changing the bit. Confirm the tool holder or chuck is properly sized and torqued to the machine manufacturer specification before engaging the spindle. Always engage the coolant-through system when available, as running solid carbide dry in cast iron or non-ferrous materials can cause premature edge failure.
