The KENNAMETAL 1201030 is a straight-flute solid carbide drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in cast iron and non-ferrous metals. Built to DIN 6537L standards, it features a 130-degree split point that reduces walking and lowers thrust requirements at entry. The bright, uncoated finish suits applications where coating buildup or chemical interaction with the workpiece material is a concern. At 0.2344 inches (15/64 inches) in diameter, this two-flute bit delivers tight diameter tolerance of plus 0.0000 to plus 0.0004 inches, making it suitable for close-tolerance hole applications. Coolant-through capability via a round coolant hole allows internal flood cooling to extend tool life in production environments.
This drill bit is designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and other rigid setups where consistent hole quality in cast iron, gray iron, ductile iron, aluminum, brass, copper, and similar non-ferrous alloys is required. The web-thinned point geometry reduces cutting forces and improves chip evacuation, which is especially valuable in blind-hole applications. With a maximum drilling depth of 1.37 inches and a flute length of 1.71 inches, this bit is suited to shallow-to-moderate depth holes in production and job-shop environments. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation.
Designed for use in cast iron and non-ferrous metal applications as part of the KENNAMETAL K411 series. Suitable for CNC machining centers and rigid drill press setups with coolant delivery capability at the spindle.
This tool is installed and changed by machinists or CNC operators; ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Secure the shank in a collet or drill chuck rated for the 6.35 mm (0.250-inch nominal) shank diameter and verify runout before cutting. Coolant-through bits require a compatible coolant-delivery spindle to realize the benefit of internal cooling. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 1.37 inches in a single pass without a peck-drilling cycle to clear chips.
