The KENNAMETAL 1199351 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding materials. Ground to a 130-degree split point with web thinning, it reduces thrust and improves centering without a pilot hole. The three-flute spiral configuration promotes faster chip evacuation compared to standard two-flute designs, making it well suited for production drilling cycles where throughput and hole quality both matter. At 4.80 mm in diameter with an overall length of 82.00 mm, it fits standard straight-shank toolholders and drill chucks across CNC machining centers and manual drill presses alike. Licensed machinists and CNC operators installing this tool should verify runout and collet concentricity before production runs.
This drill is rated for use in cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. Its K10 carbide grade and bright uncoated finish make it a practical choice for applications where coating adhesion to non-ferrous materials is a concern, or where re-sharpening without stripping a coating is preferred. Typical applications include aerospace component drilling, die and mold work, and high-volume production machining of cast iron housings. The DIN 6537L specification ensures dimensional conformity for shops sourcing to European or international drawing standards.
Designed as a straight-shank jobber drill conforming to DIN 6537L, this bit is compatible with standard drill chucks and ER collet systems sized for a 6 mm shank diameter across CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machine tools.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with solid carbide tooling requirements. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Carbide drills are brittle compared to HSS and require rigid setups with minimal runout to prevent chipping or breakage. Do not use this drill in applications requiring coolant-through passages, as this tool is not designed for internal coolant delivery.
